As we get ready for our fall trips of the season, we once again are going through our outdoor gear room. We check and make sure our students have access to the gear that will keep them safe and dry on our trips through mountains and around lakes including our tents, packs, stoves, and boots. As we inventoried and inspected our boot collection, we noticed that several had become worn beyond use and needed to be removed. Rather than toss them into a landfill, our social studies teacher was able to upcycle these instead. Quick Cobbler (https://www.quickcobbler.com/) is a shoe repair store in Olympic Village which will repair our boots for free and get them donated to homeless folks! Thanks to the staff who put in their labour to get people good shoes.... :)
