Are you a VSB Gr 7 student (or know one) interested in our Leadership Mini-School program? Please come to our student run Info Night on October 27, from 6-7:30 pm! Days 2 and 3 were full of lessons about community, mindfulness, gratitude, and the power of being present. Our students hiked, cooked, camped, and controlled fire! These Gr 9s learned about clam gardens, bioluminescence, coastal ecosystems, and the impacts of coastal erosion. Most importantly though, our students strengthened relationships, built trust, and formed connections so essential in working together as a team. Leadership 9 is off to an amazing start.

Hey Ldp - need to find a fun way to start volunteering for the year? These Ldp students are working hard in our garden! Want to join garden club? Ask Ms. Dixon or Ms. Rempel to add you to the Team.
It’s lantern making time again!! Our Gr 9s are super thankful that @stillmoonarts ran an eco arts workshop today where our students leaned about small invertebrates and created lanterns which will be a part of this year’s MoonFest!!!

Our 10s and 11s had their last training ride to UBC and back this week. In the middle of this epic physical field trip, our Gr 11s toured UBC Farm where they learned about post secondary options, and experienced first hand the classroom material we had been learning this month: Indigenous food systems, agrobiodiversity, climate and carbon sequestration, and soil health. They then participated in wildfire mitigation in an urban forest ecosystem! Nothing beats place based, hands in learning!!!!

Looking for Leadership community support! One of our Gr 10s is creating care packages for folks in need as part of their “Caring Capstone” project. Donations would be super helpful! They are looking for toothbrushes, napkins, sanitizer, feminine hygiene products, hats, toques, gloves, socks, nut free granola bars or other shelf-stable snacks. Anything helps! Please drop off in room 205 east (Ms. Rempel’s room)
