Our 10s and 11s had their last training ride to UBC and back this week. In the middle of this epic physical field trip, our Gr 11s toured UBC Farm where they learned about post secondary options, and experienced first hand the classroom material we had been learning this month: Indigenous food systems, agrobiodiversity, climate and carbon sequestration, and soil health. They then participated in wildfire mitigation in an urban forest ecosystem! Nothing beats place based, hands in learning!!!!

Super grateful to @stillmoonarts and @stillmoon_yc for teaching our student how to turn natural materials into twine and also introduce some amazing opportunities to get involved in local community leadership! (Photo credits: Ms. Tam!)

Looking for Leadership community support! One of our Gr 10s is creating care packages for folks in need as part of their “Caring Capstone” project. Donations would be super helpful! They are looking for toothbrushes, napkins, sanitizer, feminine hygiene products, hats, toques, gloves, socks, nut free granola bars or other shelf-stable snacks. Anything helps! Please drop off in room 205 east (Ms. Rempel’s room)

Gorgeous day riding from East Van to Stanley Park and back to prepare for upcoming camps. In the middle, our students experienced an incredible history tour about Stanley Park from @forbiddenvancouver - thanks to our two guides!!! You were amazing!!

Ldp 10 is learning about the impact of gratitude practice and mental health in our CLE course. We planted a few seeds and up popped a garden of gratitude!

If you didn't get a first offer, there is still hope. We will be making second offers at 9am on Feb. 18th.

Congratulations if you received a first offer. Please follow the instructions in the email. If you didn't receive a first offer, please stay hopeful and be patient. Second Offers go out on Feb. 18th.

🎵🎤 Marshmallows roasting over open fire 🔥🎶 I am pleased to report that all of our Ldp 8s were able to make a perfect Bunsen burner flame today. No burns acquired. No eyebrows singed. Many treats were consumed! Happy Holidays, everyone!!!

From Mr. Al: Leadership Program, I just want to take a moment to say how incredibly proud I am of all of you.
Across our four cohort classes, you came together to lead the Mac & Cheese Food Drive and managed to collect nearly 1,000 boxes. That is an amazing accomplishment. All of this food will be donated to the Food Bank and the Salvation Army, where it will make a real difference for people in our community. At a time when the cost of food is rising beyond what many families can afford, your effort, care, and commitment truly matter. This is exactly the kind of leadership and community building that defines our mini-school.
Well done, everyone. You should be very proud of what you accomplished. 👏

We may be sitting in the dark due to a power outage, but our Leadership 9s kept working on their compliment project today. We are developing the leadership skill of recognizing and celebrating positive character traits in our colleagues.
